Tickers are usually 1โ5 letters (AAPL, MSFT, NVDA, VOO). US markets use letter tickers; London uses tickers like ULVR.L; Asian markets often use number codes.
The same company can have different tickers on different exchanges. Cross-listed shares (ADRs, GDRs) let investors buy foreign companies through their home exchange.

Why do some tickers change?
Usually after a merger, spin-off, or rebrand. The old ticker retires; the new entity begins trading under a fresh symbol.
